Janis D'Arcy
Janis D'Arcy was born and raised in Harlan, Iowa. Her experience with yoga began in 2002, when in her early 50's, she purchased Richard Hittleman's book, "Yoga, a 28-day exercise plan." During the following three years, she worked on her own with yoga postures and breathing practices in the loft of her home. She became aware that there was much more going on than just becoming flexible and healthy. The transformational effects of yoga had begun and the seed of yoga was planted.
Through an email sent to her by a friend, she came to meet Susi Amendola. She completed her 200-hour certification in raja yoga at the Omaha Yoga and Bodywork Center in 2005-06. Since then she has practiced and trained with several inspiring teachers in the U.S. and Canada. The most recent, in 2009, was a weekend workshop of Radiant Child Yoga, training level one and two. She also was a mentor of the teacher training class at OYBC 2008-09.
Janis lives with her husband on an acreage in rural Iowa where she enjoys the bounty of nature, caring for birds and animals and working in the garden. She finds peace and joy in her personal yoga practice.
She is most grateful for her teacher Susi as well as all of the teachers in her life who have shared their wisdom and love of yoga with her.
